There’s A Lot Of Bad Advice Out There About Youth Athletic Injuries...
What's False:
- Just “rest” and your injury will get better (then months later they’re still suffering…).
- Ice it tonight and then you’ll be ready to get back out to practice tomorrow.
- It’s just growing pains. They’ll go away eventually. Your athlete just needs to push through it.
But, The TRUTH Is:
- Resting it doesn’t change anything. It might make your athlete feel better temporarily, but the pain will return.
- Icing it isn’t enough. Icing reduces pain and swelling only temporarily.
- Growing pains exist, but if your kid is being held back from performing their best, something else is likely going on.
Get Your Youth Athlete’s Competitive Edge Back!
- You must choose the right provider for your children’s health. If you don’t, they could end up sitting on the sidelines longer than necessary or getting treatments they could actually avoid.
- It’s possible to treat your son or daughter’s injury without completely taking time off from their favorite sport. In fact, staying active in the right ways while injured can help them come back stronger than ever. .
- We understand you want to get a handle on this injury so it doesn’t become a chronic issue or affect your child for years to come.
- To do that, you have to not just treat the pain, but have a provider who is willing to figure out WHY the injury happened in the first place.
At Fick PT & Performance We’ve Created A 3-Step Process To Get Rid Of Your Child's Athletic Injuries AND Make Sure Their Pain Stays Away.
STEP 1
We Find Out What’s Really Going On
Our medical system is frustrating and lacks personalization. There are long wait times for appointments and very short visits once you actually get in to see someone. Sadly, even most physical therapy clinics operate this way.
They’re not attentive and lack a system to work specifically with athletes under 18.
This is why our first step before we do anything, is to find out what’s really going on.
After working with lots of youth athletes, we know that no two injuries are alike. Each person has a different body, a different history, and different types of pain.
That is why our first step is to have an open conversation with you and your athlete. During this time we talk to find out where the problem is really coming from and how it’s impacting their athletic goals.
That way we get a deep understanding of your specific issue and can create a unique plan of treatment to get your kid back to the sports they love.
STEP 2
We Create A Clear Plan For Successful Recovery
Many times, what treatments you find on the internet for your child’s injury, or even receive from other healthcare professionals, is not going to be enough to eliminate the problem.
Every youth athlete’s cause of injury is different! There isn’t a generic treatment program that is going to give them a lasting solution.
You Need A Customized Plan.
Sadly, many youth athletes prolong their time unable to enjoy the sports and workouts they love by doing the wrong treatments.
A guided customized treatment plan is the answer.
Some Of Our Treatment Options Include:
Physical Therapy
Dry Needling
AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill
Laser Therapy
X-Rays & MRIs
dorsaVi Athletic Movement Assessment
Sports Recovery
Sports Massage
Blood Flow Restriction (BFR)
